Zinedine Zidane’s future remains uncertain even though his contract expires in 2022 and people are constantly being linked with the Real Madrid job.
According to Italian paper ‘La Repubblica’, Florentino Perez’s preferred option is Jurgen Klopp, whose Liverpool contract runs until 2024.
Despite Zinedine Zidane’s contract running until 30th June 2022, speculation of him leaving in the summer has increased in recent weeks. Firstly because of the results, but also because of his comments in press conference. He keeps on saying that changes are needed in the summer.
At the moment, the Frenchman has asked for time and respect for his players, who he constantly praises. He wants to end the season and then see what to do. In the meantime, candidates keep on being linked with his position as Real Madrid coach.
The latest man to be talked about is Jurgen Klopp. According to Italian paper ‘La Repubblica’, the current Liverpool manager is the preferred option of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to replace Zidane.
Whether this happens this summer or next summer remains to be seen. The German renewed at Liverpool until 2024 so getting him to leave Anfield seems very difficult. He has a buyout clause in his contract, but only to return to Germany.
It is not the first time Klopp has been linked with Real Madrid, but he has never moved there. Only an awful season or Klopp resigning would see him leave Liverpool ahead of schedule as he is considered a God at the Merseyside club.
This season has been a very difficult one for Klopp because of all the injuries his team have had. There are those who say that his squad are tired after their efforts all these years, but the German is looking to turn things around.
